Dr. ALAYANDE Gbenga Sunday – ITS TIME TO BE OUR BROTHER’S KEEPER


Sometimes, despite our best efforts, unfortunate things happens.


Life is very dicey so if we judge ourselves only by our ability to make things happen progressively, then we will leave a lot of people behind.

One of those unfortunate things is the story of one of our colleague that in the past 9 years can barely afford a living.

Dr. ALAYANDE, Gbenga Sunday hails from Isin Local Government Area in Kwara State and graduated from the famous Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto 2010 and has being admitted to the profession of Veterinary Medicine.
Life hasn’t been so fair on him.

Believe me, the veterinary profession still maintains a cadre of progress every one of us should be proud of. However, when things like this happens, saving the face of the profession become a priority.

Dr. Alayande is currently living in a ‘bachar’ and was caught contemplating suicide.

When things aren't going our direction, a call for help is the most reasonable thing to do.
A group of friends have decided to solicit for the support of all veterinarian to help this promising but challenged veterinarian.

Our idea is simple...

1. Find him a job
2. Get him a mentor who will counsel him
3. Get him a takeoff grant of N300,000 to procure a decent accommodation
4. Put back the pride of the profession.

  Its a daunting task but collectively, it can be one of the easiest.

A PLEA TO 50 VETERINARIANS

I remember, few years ago when I wanted to start my first Veterinary Clinic. I had many concerns, fears, joy and sadness at the same time. What was I going into? Will it succeed or will it fail? So many questions with very few answers... While still musing over my mixed feelings, a senior colleague (Dr. Micheal Eleagwu) offered to help out. He gave me drugs he had in excess, 5 pieces each and asked me to return the capital after sales. We are all not self-made. Most of us are products of other people's kindness. Sokoto State Government and the AFrican Development Bank (AfDB) Mull Ranchers, Grazing Reserves Set Up

Sokoto state government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) are working closely towards the feasibility of raising ranches and grazing reserves in parts of the state so as to improve livestock farming and curtail the preponderance of banditry and sundry crimes arising therefrom. This was part of the take-always from a meeting Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state and a team of his Commissioners had with the management of the AfDB, led by the President of its President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, in the bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. According to the state Commissioner for Animal Health, Prof. Abdulkadir Junaidu, the move is in furtherance of the state government’s ongoing efforts to achieve the same goal.
