Uganda
Veterinary Association (UVA) won the 2019 World Veterinary Day contest, organized
on the last Saturday in April annually by the World Veterinary Association (WVA)
partnering with Health-for-Animals
group. UVA made history by winning the global competition for the second time,
having won the 2018 edition.
The
award presentation ceremony was well attended by senior government officials in
Uganda, including Hon. Kibanzanga Christopher, Minister of State for
Agriculture and General Elly Tumwine (Rtd), Minister of Security. WVA was
represented by Dr. Gani Enahoro, Chairman, WVA Policy Committee and WVA Councilor
for Africa. In his speech, he commended the leadership of UVA and implored them
to win a hat-trick in the 2020 edition and set a further record that would be
difficult to rival. He appreciated the obvious support from the government and
people of the Republic of Uganda and urged them to continue.
